With Thanksgiving just around the corner we have been reflecting on what a fantastic year this has been. History was made this year at the 22nd annual Portland Race for the Cure, with an on-air marriage proposal.
30-year-old breast cancer survivor, Tracie Benjamin was interrupted during a live television interview by her boyfriend of seven years, Ryan, who asked her to marry him. He dropped to his knees, Tracie burst into tears, and the audience in the park and on television got a first-hand look at love in action. Happily for all, Tracie accepted his proposal. Anna-Mieke Anderson (Founder of MiaDonna & Company), saw the proposal online and became emotionally vested. Anna lost her mother to cancer, so this story truly hit home. “I was my mother’s caregiver”. She also states, “We give back to our local community”, and she did just that. MiaDonna & Company stepped up and offered to donate a beautiful engagement ring to Tracie and Ryan. Tracie burst into tears when Anna offered to donate her dream ring. “This means so much to me. This experience has made me realize how many great people there are in this world”, Tracie states.

The couple knew they wanted a pink center stone not only to represent their love, but also as a reminder that Tracie is a breast cancer SURVIVOR – STRONG and BEAUTIFUL – and she won that battle with Ryan by her side! For the ring design they chose the Bella Antique Engagement Ring and for the center stone they decided on the pink MiaDonna Diamond Hybrid, with its bold yet understated pink hue.
