The stress of the wedding is over and now the fun and enjoyment of being in love can finally takeover. Consider taking your honeymoon in Tuscany, Italy. Arguably, Tuscany ranks up with Paris as one of the most famous romantic destinations in the entire world. Nonetheless, it is easy to get caught up in the spirit when touring the idyllic city.
There are few regions of Italy with as much to offer as Tuscany and none that perfectly embody everything we think of as quintessentially Italian. Home to Italy’s best wines, most iconic pasta dishes, best scenery and the birthplace of its most famous artists, Tuscany is Italy in a microcosm - the perfect Italian honeymoon destination.
Located towards the north of Italy, Tuscany has a much milder climate than the rest of the country. Throughout the hills of central Tuscany, the temperature is much lower than south Italy and Rome, although it is colder in winter too. The best time of year to visit is September, during the harvest season when the vines are full and the countryside is exploding in color. Any time between the months of May and October is pleasant. We have curated a list of the most romantic things to do while touring Tuscany.
Tuscany is all about the wine. It is a requirement to splurge at least once in the finest wines known to Earth. While you can find plenty of places to go wine tasting in local Tuscan towns and cities, there is nothing like the experience of wine tasting at a vineyard. One great destination to check out is Tenuta Torciano as apart of a wine tour through Fun in Tuscany. The meal served with the wine is bread, cheeses, salami, balsamic vinegar, homemade lasagna with truffle sauce and cantucci cookies all sourced locally within the Tuscan region.
Ride a Vespa through the Countryside
Want something a bit more adventurous? Consider taking a scenic Vespa ride through the panoramic views of Tuscany. You can choose to go with a guided tour group, such as Walkabout Florence, or go rogue and choose your own journey. There are plenty of places to pause and admire a beautiful church with panoramic views of Florence, stop in awe of the vineyards that dot the region, and take a break for a nice picnic lunch at a picturesque Tuscan farmhouse.
Tour the Small Villages of Tuscany
Prepare to have your breath taken away with all of the small towns sprinkled about the Tuscan countryside. From internationally famous spots like Pisa to more low-key spots like Arezzo, Tuscan towns all have their own personalities but an overwhelmingly similar Tuscan flair, making them perfect for wandering about aimlessly with your significant other. Some tourist favorites include, Lucca, Arezzo, Volterra and San Gimignano.
Admire Majestic Works of Art
Don’t miss out on the chance to be in the presence of some of the most iconic art pieces on Earth. The Ufizzi Gallery, home to Boticelli’s “Birth of Venus”. The Galleria Accademia, home to Michelangelo's “David”. The exterior of the Duomo, a masterpiece of its own. Those are just to name a few of the spectacular highlights of Florence. Tuscany is packed-full of incredible frescos, statues, and art galleries of all kinds. Oh! We couldn’t forget mentioning the architecture of the buildings in Tuscany themselves, which are truly impeccable works of art.
