Meet Alex and Jordan, our February featured couple. Originally both from Tennessee, their engagement took place in Brazil, and their wedding is set for January 4th, 2020! A truly magical wedding coming up next winter.
Alex and Jordan have been together for about a year now, after meeting for the first time at a mutual friend’s Winter Olympic themed birthday party in January of 2018. Ever since their first date later that month after initially meeting, they have stuck together through thick and thin. They actually both called their mutual friend and gushed about how much they already liked each other!
Jordan is currently living in Brazil doing field research for his PhD, so Alex flew down and spent the holidays with him. On December 30, 2018. Jordan proposed while the two were in Rio de Janeiro for New Years. A romantic room filled with rose petals were set up in the house they were staying in, and was the ultimate surprise to Alex when they arrived. Alex says she was surprised because she thought it would happen the next day! They were both quite excited and nervous as Jordan got down on one knee and started to ask for Alex’s hand, but she interrupted and said yes before the question was even out.
Alex says, “He was really relieved to give me the ring so he didn’t have to worry about keeping track of it as he continues to travel through Brazil... He was so worried and nervous that he accidentally put the ring on the wrong hand at first!”
When it came down to the engagement ring, Alex graduated with an Environmental Science degree and Jordan focuses on Human Rights within his studies, so finding an ethical and sustainable ring was important to both of them. They settled on choosing a MiaDonna ring, the Mod Solitaire Engagement Ring specifically, and they put Jordan’s initials in Alex’s ring and plan to put her initials in Jordan’s wedding band. The ring is also extra special because they chose a sapphire center stone rather than a lab-grown diamond because of its unique color and the fact that it was a beautiful (and more ethical) alternative to more traditionally mined diamonds.
Jordan will return back to the US permanently this summer and the couple will take a little time to get resettled before tying the knot during the next holiday season. We wish Alex and Jordan the absolute best for the future, and can’t wait to see where they explore next on their journey together!
