MiaDonna Unveils World's Largest Grown-in-the-USA Laboratory Diamond
During the time of year when 25 percent of American proposals occur, we're excited to announce a modern-day scientific breakthrough: the unveiling of the Largest Grown-in-the-USA Laboratory Diamond at 6.28 carats!
Humanitarian Ambassador and Muhammad Ali’s daughter, Khaliah, along with our fearless leader and CEO, Anna-Mieke Anderson, launched the 6.28 carat laboratory-grown diamond at the MiaDonna Portland, Oregon showroom along with a global initiative to give back to orphans and communities negatively impacted by the blood diamond industry. For the last ten years, MiaDonna has donated five percent from every purchase to The Greener Diamond to fund educational, mentoring and agricultural programs in diamond-mining communities with the goal of helping blood diamond victims, and more recently ebola orphans, live a life free of poverty.
The 6.28ct, J-color, VS2 clarity, cushion-cut diamond is a marvel of U.S. technology and is truly eco-friendly and conflict-free. An identically graded earth-mined diamond can cost upwards of $100,000, according to RapNet, the global diamond network. Remarkably enough, this MiaDonna lab-grown diamond is priced at just $52,000!
At the unveiling, Anna-Mieke explained how MiaDonna's scientists can now replicate the earth’s natural process of crystallizing carbon into a sizable carat diamond within 6 to 12 weeks. The “World’s Greatest’s” daughter emphasized, “Technology now makes mining for diamonds unnecessary and is another reason to turn up the volume on global outcry over the continued blood diamond trade.”
We didn't create one of the largest lab grown diamonds just to say we can. One of our goals is to provide our customers with stunning lab diamonds, but ultimately the actions we take as a company effect real lives in different parts of the world. As a certified B corp company and with our own charity foundation, the Greener Diamond, ultimately our accomplishments and success help those in need. By not contributing to diamond mining, harming the earth, communities and people's lives, and by creating sustainable community projects throughout Africa, we are able to make a difference.
MiaDonna began with a simple yet powerful idea: to re-imagine diamonds for the modern world through innovation, integrity and impact. MiaDonna was one of the first to offer lab grown diamonds at scale as a true pioneer. Since 2005, our commitment has been to craft pieces that celebrate beauty, honor responsible innovation, and hold meaning for generations to come.
